FRUIT SMOOTHIES
We generally think of Smoothies as a good healthy choice, and they can be. But unfortunately many pack a whole lot more sugar than we realize. Tons of fruit equals tons of sugar, plus many store bought smoothies add sweetened yogurts and syrups. For example, a 32-ounce “medium-size” banana-berry version from a popular chain provides more than 110 grams of sugar and 540 calories. (SHOCKER!)
You can modify this version and decrease the sugar simply by using plain greek yogurt, bananas, berries and almonds. Add some Cinnamon, which helps digestion and enhances the natural sweetness of the fruit, meaning - Bonus!! - no added sugar needed ;o)
Lastly don't forget your 2-4 tablespoons of Healthy Life Creations Collagen powder which adds protein along with the greek yogurt and nuts to slow down this otherwise instant sugar rush to the bloodstream. Also, to minimize inflammation you can even cut out the dairy (use coconut yogurt) and add some Turmeric powder (anti-inflammatory benefits). Can you handle even more healthy??? -add some greens!
If this seems too complicated or confusing, just focus on lowering your sugar (try Stevie) and/or by camouflaging some overall better health ingredients into this sweet drink, like: Collagen, Turmeric, Ceylon Cinnamon, and almost any greens. Your body will thank you!
